Nobody in this market publishes hide thickness. It costs us ₹200 for a caliper and forty seconds per batch. If any figure above is wrong, tell us and we'll correct it publicly.

How it's made

The hide arrives from Chennai as a full skin, and the first job is rejection. Roughly a fifth of every hide can't be used — the belly is too loose, and old scars won't take a consistent finish. What's left is cut with the grain running the correct way across the panels, so the bag stretches evenly rather than in one direction.

Anwar has been cutting leather for 22 years and does this by eye, on a marble slab, with a round knife. The panels are then skived at the seams — thinned so the folded edge doesn't triple in thickness — which is the step most factories skip and the reason cheap bags have lumpy seams.

Edges get three passes — sanded, sealed, waxed, burnished, then repeated. It adds about forty minutes per bag and it's the single detail that separates a well-made bag from a cheap one at arm's length.

CraftsmanshipRound knife mid-cut on the marble. Single window light camera-left, no flash, no styling. Two more frames: hands skiving a seam; the burnishing wheel with edge wax visible.

How do I know this is full grain leather?

Every product page lists the leather and its thickness. Full grain is the top layer of the hide with the grain left intact — it marks, and those marks fade back over hours. We do not sell bonded or coated leather, and we do not use the words “genuine leather”, which is a grade, not a compliment.
