Caring for Your Leather

Full-grain leather is meant to be used, not babied. A little care keeps it looking its best, here's everything you need to know.

Our leather is vegetable-tanned full-grain buffalo, which means it gets better the more you use it. It'll darken, soften and take on a patina that's yours alone. These simple habits help it age well.

Everyday care

Handle with clean hands. Leather is a natural material that absorbs oils and creams. Always handle your piece with clean, dry hands.

Avoid overstuffing. For wallets and bags, don't overfill, it stretches the leather and loses its shape over time.

Rotate use. Give it a rest. If you have more than one piece, alternating them lets the leather breathe between uses.

Storage

Keep bags lightly stuffed with soft tissue or fabric to hold their shape. Avoid plastic covers, leather needs to breathe. A cool, dry spot away from direct sunlight is ideal; use the dust bag or box your piece came in.

Cleaning & conditioning

Wipe your leather with a soft, dry cloth after use to lift dust and surface dirt. For a deeper clean, use a slightly damp cloth and let it air dry naturally, never use heat.

Because our leather is vegetable-tanned, it needs far less conditioning than coated leathers. Don't condition on a schedule. Only when it starts to look or feel dry, usually once or twice a year, apply a small amount of a natural leather conditioner or balm, sparingly and evenly. Over-conditioning can darken the leather unevenly, so less is more. Avoid harsh chemicals, soaps and alcohol-based cleaners entirely.

Water & weather

Leather is naturally resilient but not waterproof. If it gets wet, pat dry immediately with a soft cloth. Let it dry at room temperature, never under the sun or with a dryer.

For protection, you may use a specialist leather protector spray, tested first on a small area.
